World's Best Banana Bread

Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients
  • 3 to 4 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Use overripe bananas for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Make sure the butter is not too hot.
  • 2 large eggs Beaten, added one at a time.
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional) For added flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional) For added flavor.
Add-ins
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional) For added crunch.
Sweetener
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Adjust according to sweetness preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  4. Stir in the melted butter.
  5. Mix in the granulated sugar until well combined.
  6. Beat in the eggs one at a time and then stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and optional spices.
  8. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet banana mixture, being careful not to over-mix.
  9. If using, gently fold in the chopped nuts.
  10. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 55 to 65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Banana bread can be frozen for longer storage. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and then in aluminum foil.
