Making the Rolls
- Start by mixing 1 tablespoon of warm water with 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Stir in 1 packet of active dry yeast and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In another bowl, combine 1 cup of warmed milk with 5 tablespoons of melted butter, ensuring the mixture is not too hot.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the remaining sugar, kosher salt, and bread flour. Mix well.
- Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the dry ingredients along with the milk and butter mixture and the egg. Mix until it forms a soft dough.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, divide it into 12 equal pieces, and shape each piece into a ball. Place them in a greased baking dish or muffin tin.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30-40 minutes until they have doubled in size again.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while the rolls rise.
- Bake the rolls for about 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown.
- Brush with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter right after baking.
Cinnamon Honey Butter
- In a small bowl, combine ¼ cup of softened unsalted butter, 2 tablespoons of confectioners' sugar, 2 tablespoons of honey, and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. Mix until smooth and creamy.
Notes
Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
