Ingredients

For the Sandwiches
  • 8 slices Pan de molde (sliced bread)
  • 8 slices Jamón York (York ham) Cut to match coffin shape.
  • 8 slices Unas lonchas queso (slices of cheese) Cut to match coffin shape.
  • 4 tablespoons Quesitos o queso de untar (spreadable cheese)
  • 4 tablespoons Sobrasada (Spanish sausage spread)
  • 50 grams Chorizo Pamplonés (Pamplona chorizo) Cut into strips.
  • 1 cup Unos brotes alfalfa (alfalfa sprouts)

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cutting the slices of bread into coffin shapes using a template or creating your own.
  2. If filling with ham and cheese, cut the cold cuts to match the coffin shape.
  3. Lay the chosen filling on one sliced bread piece and place another on top to close the sandwich.
  4. Cut two strips of chorizo Pamplonés, one longer than the other, to form a cross.
  5. Stick the cross onto the sandwich using a bit of spreadable cheese.
  6. On a serving tray, place a layer of alfalfa sprouts and arrange the sandwiches on top for a spooky effect.

Notes

Choose a variety of fillings to please everyone. Use fresh ingredients for the best flavors. For a health twist, consider adding some extra veggies inside the sandwiches. Make sure to keep the coffin shape consistent for a more polished look. These sandwiches can be prepared a few hours in advance but wait to add alfalfa sprouts until serving for freshness.
