Cake Ingredients
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix Use your favorite brand
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Ensure it's softened for easier mixing
  • 1 cup strawberries, chopped Fresh strawberries preferred
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut (optional) For added flavor and texture
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) Choose your favorite nuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray or butter.
Mixing
  1. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well blended.
  2. Pour half the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  3. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the first layer of cake batter and spread it gently.
  5. Add the remaining cake batter on top of the cream cheese layer.
  6. Scatter the chopped strawberries on top and gently press some into the batter.
  7. Optionally, sprinkle coconut or nuts on top.
  8. Use a knife to gently swirl the toppings into the batter.
Baking
  1. Bake for 40-45 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  2. Let cool in the pan before slicing and serving.
Serving Suggestions
  1. Serve with whipped cream and fresh strawberries on the side if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days, or freeze individual slices for 2-3 months.
