Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry flour mixture until a dough forms.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of the dough into balls and coat each ball in sugar.
  7. Place the dough balls onto ungreased cookie sheets, flattening them slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  8. Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes until lightly golden around the edges but still soft in the center.
  9. Remove cookies from the oven and let them cool on wire racks.

For best results, measure your flour correctly and ensure all ingredients are at room temperature. Don’t overbake to keep cookies soft.
