Ingredients

For the Wings
  • 2 pounds Chicken wings Use fresh or thawed frozen wings.
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Pineapple juice Fresh or canned pineapple juice works.
  • 1/2 cup Soy sauce Low-sodium soy sauce can be used for a healthier option.
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced) Fresh minced garlic is recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (fresh) Grated or minced.
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch For thickening the sauce.
  • 1/4 cup Water To mix with cornstarch.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (for garnish) Optional but recommended.
  • 2 stalks Green onions (for garnish) Chopped for serving.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, mix the pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and ginger. Heat until the mixture simmers.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water and add to the saucepan. Stir until the sauce thickens.
Cooking
  1. In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with half of the thickened sauce.
  2. Place the coated wings in a single layer on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, basting with remaining sauce halfway through.
  3. Once done, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, marinate wings in sauce prior to baking. Optionally broil for extra crispness during the last few minutes.
