  • 1 can Black Beans Canned beans are convenient.
  • 1 can Green Chiles Use mild or spicy according to preference.
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack Cheese, shredded Feel free to substitute with other cheeses.
  • 6 pieces Flour Tortillas Can be substituted with gluten-free tortillas.
Seasoning Blend
  • 1 tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tbsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 piece Avocado For the creamy dipping sauce.
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream Optional for the dipping sauce.
  • 1 tbsp Lime Juice Optional for the dipping sauce.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add your lean ground turkey. Cook it until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Once browned, add the homemade seasoning blend, black beans, and green chiles. Stir and heat for another 3-5 minutes.
  4. Layer flour tortillas in a baking dish, add the turkey mixture, and sprinkle Monterey Jack cheese on top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Serve hot with a dipping sauce made of blended avocado, sour cream, and lime juice.

Notes

Offer various toppings like chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, jalapeños, and salsa to allow customization. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the fridge or frozen for up to 2-3 months.
