Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- If using mushrooms, sauté them in butter over medium heat until tender and caramelized.
Mixing
- In a large bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add blanched green beans and sautéed mushrooms (if using) and gently toss until well coated.
Baking
- Pour the mixture into a casserole dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
- Stir in half of the French fried onions, then sprinkle the remaining onions on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until onions are golden brown.
Notes
For best results, sprinkle fried onions right before serving to maintain their crunch. Leftovers can be refrigerated for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
