Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Use good quality for best results.
  • 2 cups brown sugar Light or dark brown sugar can be used.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder Choose high-quality cocoa for richer flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Reduce if using salted butter.
Add-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  7. Scoop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until edges are firm and centers are still soft.
  2. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container. They can last up to a week at room temperature. For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer-safe bag for up to three months.
