Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, place the ground beef over medium heat and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until the onion is soft.
- Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Transfer the beef mixture to a casserole dish and spread it evenly.
- Spread the prepared mashed potatoes over the beef mixture, covering it completely.
- Dot the mashed potatoes with butter and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Allow the casserole to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
