  • 8 oz pasta (e.g., penne or spaghetti) Use whole-grain or gluten-free pasta for a healthier option.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh broccoli preferred.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Add more cloves for extra flavor if desired.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Adjust amount for a lighter dish or use cooking spray.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season according to preference.
  • Parmesan cheese, grated (optional) Adds a salty, creamy flavor.
  • Red pepper flakes (optional) For added spice.

Cooking
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the pasta and cook until al dente according to package instructions (about 8-10 minutes).
  2. When there are about 3-4 minutes left of cooking time for the pasta, add the broccoli florets to the pot.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Drain the cooked pasta and broccoli. Add them to the skillet with the garlic oil and mix gently.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste. Stir to combine.
  6. Serve warm, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, add a splash of water or olive oil.
