Ingredients
Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir with a wooden spoon until a rough dough forms.
Knead the Dough
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticky, sprinkle a little more flour on it while kneading.
Let the Dough Rise
- Place the kneaded dough in a bowl lightly greased with olive oil. Cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours, until it doubles in size.
Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat as well.
Shape the Pizza
- After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Roll it out on a floured surface into a round shape, about 14 inches wide. Place the rolled dough on a pizza stone or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Add Sauce and Toppings
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Now, add any additional toppings you desire.
Bake the Pizza
- Place the pizza in the oven. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Cool and Slice
- Once done, carefully remove the pizza from the oven. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing it into wedges.
Enjoy!
- Serve the pizza hot and enjoy it with family and friends.
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Don't overload toppings to avoid a soggy pizza. Experiment with different types of flour for the dough.
