Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is at room temperature.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs Add one at a time and mix well in between.
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Adjust if using salted butter.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Semi-sweet chocolate chips are recommended.
  • to taste Flaked sea salt for topping Adds a delightful contrast to sweetness.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring they're well blended before adding the next.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined.
  5. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving enough space between each.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Sprinkle flaked sea salt over the cookies immediately after removing them from the oven.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container. For soft cookies, add a slice of bread to the container. You can refrigerate or freeze dough for later use.
