Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring they're well blended before adding the next.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving enough space between each.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Sprinkle flaked sea salt over the cookies immediately after removing them from the oven.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container. For soft cookies, add a slice of bread to the container. You can refrigerate or freeze dough for later use.
