  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 2 large eggs, beaten For coating the apple slices.
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs) For a crispy texture.
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon Adds flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Mixed with cinnamon for coating.
  • 1 spray cooking spray Helps achieve a crispy exterior.
For the Dipping Sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce For dipping.
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt A refreshing dipping option.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel and slice the apples into wedges about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Core and remove the seeds from the apple wedges.
  3. In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar.
  4. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and the last with panko breadcrumbs mixed with half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Coating
  1. Coat each apple wedge in flour, then in eggs, and finally roll in the breadcrumb mixture.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Arrange the breaded apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, spraying them with cooking spray.
  3. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture before serving.

Notes

Best enjoyed immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the air fryer to restore crunchiness.
