Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese.
- Repeat with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses, topping with grated Parmesan.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving, and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
Great as a side dish for roast chicken, grilled meats, or potlucks. Can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
