Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 0.5 cups packed brown sugar Light or dark
  • 0.25 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 1 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
Mixing
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and whisk until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just incorporated.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Scoop portions of dough (about 2 oz each) onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving at least 3 inches apart.
  2. Press additional chocolate chips on top of each dough ball if desired.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until cookies are puffed and edges are golden brown.
  4. Optional: Use a cookie cutter to reshape cookies while hot.
  5. Let cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve with a glass of milk, at parties, or alongside ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
