Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir together and set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the room temperature unsalted butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined; do not overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them apart.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Serving
- Enjoy your cookies with a glass of milk or as ice cream sandwiches!
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months. Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking can improve texture.
