Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then add the vanilla extract.
- Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and, if desired, the chopped nuts.
Baking
- Drop rounded balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown at the edges and slightly soft in the center.
- Let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
- Serve warm with milk or plate for gatherings. For extra warmth, microwave for a few seconds before serving.
