Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure it is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed, for sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Adjustable for sweetness preference.
  • 1 large egg Bring to room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest From fresh oranges for flavor.
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional) Can be omitted.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add in the egg, vanilla extract, and orange zest; mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the dried cranberries and white chocolate chips if using.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container. Can be frozen for up to three months. Consider adding nuts, coconut, or spices for variation.
