Meatball Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef You can use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 egg
  • Salt to taste salt
  • Pepper to taste pepper
For the Subs
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Heat before adding meatballs.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese You can substitute with provolone or cheddar.
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls Toast slightly before filling for extra crunch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
Cooking
  1. Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat and add the cooked meatballs. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Place a hoagie roll on a serving plate, fill it with meatballs and marinara, and top with mozzarella cheese.
  4. Place the filled rolls in the oven for 5-10 minutes until the cheese melts and the bread is slightly toasted.

Notes

Serve warm with optional toppings like fresh basil, jalapeños, or red pepper flakes. For leftovers, cool down completely before wrapping tightly for storage, lasting up to 3 days in the fridge.
