Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, add the sliced apples. Sprinkle in the cinnamon and half of the brown sugar, and toss until the apples are well coated.
- In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, remaining brown sugar, all-purpose flour, and salt.
- Pour the melted butter into the oat mixture and stir until you get a crumbly texture.
Assembly and Baking
- Spread the apple mixture evenly across the bottom of a cast iron skillet.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly on top of the apples.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbling.
Serving
- Allow the crisp to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
