Ingredients
  

For the Chicken
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil (optional) Adds aroma and color
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • as needed Olive oil spray Helps brown the breadcrumbs

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the chicken breasts in the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Place the coated chicken breasts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Spray the chicken with olive oil spray.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
  2. Top each chicken breast with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  3. Return to the oven and bake again for 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve.

Notes

For variations, consider using zucchini or eggplant slices for a vegetarian option, or mixing different cheeses for unique flavors.
