Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
Fruit and Flavor
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Icing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a loaf pan.
Mixing Ingredients
  1. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, combine the wet ingredients: melted butter, milk, and eggs and whisk until well mixed.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined, do not overmix.
  4. Fold in the chopped apples.
Baking
  1. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar with a little cinnamon and sprinkle over the first half of the batter.
  3. Pour the remaining batter over the brown sugar layer.
  4. Bake for 50-60 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
Icing and Serving
  1. While the bread is baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  2. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Drizzle the icing over the top and serve.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate for longer storage. Freezing is also an option.
